Morning Commute: A Mystery Discovered

On our morning commute to and from class I always admired a parking garage structure that appeared to be abandoned right across the street from one of our residence halls. I knew there would be no chance of me every being able to step foot in this rustic structure because of it being under construction by the Railroad Museum.

However, during one of my class field trips this past quarter while we were touring the same Railroad Roundhouse Museum we were granted special permission to view their current construction. This being the same structure I had admired for the past year, I could hardly contain my excitement as I knew where we were headed.

I was so grateful I brought along my camera for the chance to capture so many moments. Upon exploring, this particular wall captured my attention and even more excitement rushed through me by seeing the words displayed on the door...

"Jesus Saves"

It was and is such a simple statement.

I found these lyrics appropriate:

“My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought

My sin not in part but the whole

Was nailed to the cross and I bear it no more

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh, my soul

It is well with my soul. It is well.”

Such a beautiful reminder of what Jesus has done for us and the Gospel He has called us to proclaim.

What even a better picture that these words were written on a door to show the fellowship Jesus is longing to have with each and every one of us.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and with me.”
